About Me
Hi there, obviously if reading this you know that I'm Tyler Colon. I'm a Central York High School senior. I am apart of the Apollo Mass Customized Learning (MCL) program running for it's first time at Central. I'm one of the very few selected to be a guinea pig of this trail class, and there are some very high expectations. I'm sure that Apollo program has been explained, but in a nut shell to us students we see this new opportunity to challenge ourselves. this class is a project based class, with 4 individual projects the must relate to 1 of the 4 preset themes that change according to your grade (junior to seniors), and 1 group project within a group of 4 that must help out the community. So let me tell you a little about myself before you begin to explore my page. I'm currently 17 and about to turn 18 as of January 2nd, I'm a high school wrestler, I've also played football my first 3 years of high school as well as track & field, and I did inner-city boxing. I use to go to York City schools but I moved in 8th grade to Central and have refused to leave since. The education here could not be better anywhere else. I'm currently enlisted in the U.S. Army as Military Police Dog Handler for 6 years active and 2 years reserves. I'm going to York Tech in my afternoons for welding. Project 1Project 1 has the theme of Perseverance. I have researched intently on the struggles of African-Americans and Homosexuals in America and have compared and contrasted the suffering either groups have endured. I designed a door and it's frame and 3D CADD printed it out to represent the similar doorway of equality that both groups strived for. There is also a report on the comparison and contrasting of the two groups.

Project 2Project 2 has the theme of virtues. I have constructed a portrait of a close friend how is Italian and I have explored her culture and family heritage. I wrote up a report abstracting details and exploring her morals as well as morals of those of Italian Poets. I represented her by water color painting and placing the poetry of the selected poets on the portrait.

Project 3Apollo 15/16
Project 3 has the theme sense of place. I have customized an RPG, Role Playing Game to reflect the Apollo Class while bring the player's world into the virtual world. The game includes info on video game use in education. You may play as any student in Apollo and play in a school safe environment using school appropriate items to defeat students. |
