Project 1 - The History of Music

For my first project I wanted to focus on music. I decided to focus on how technology has impacted music as time has progressed within the past 50 years. For Social Studies I decided to write a history outline on how music has evolved as technology has progressed. I wrote about how technology has developed and shaped music to what it is today. I used comparisons and contrasts to define what music and technology has become from what it was. For English I decided to pull in my designated theme, "Roots and Horizons". I wrote a small storyline of a person who is struggling with a relationship between themselves and someone else. This relationship could represent a romantic relationship, a friendship, or even a family relationship. I wrote a poem and used perspective to depict the struggle this particular individual is having with this relationship. In order to demonstrate my point in an artistic way I decided to create a song and a drawing/painting/digital painting to accompany the song. I contextualized my idea by creating a piece of artwork that depicted a metaphor for the theme "Roots and Horizons". My art piece is split into two parts. The top space part represents the unknown future, the part of our world, and our lives, that we can't see yet. The second part is a seascape. This represents the "here and now" part of our lives and what is right in front of us at the current moment. I also tied in an aspect of technology through the sci-fi environment I created with the piece. I created the song and used the poem I wrote for English as lyrics for the song. I received help from two other people (vocalist Kiara Colon and a friend who helped with the production of the song Nathan Roberts) in order to make the song and the whole project a reality.

Project 2 - The Thinker, The Dreamer, The Doer

In Project 2 I decided to focus on the theme of Thinkers, Dreamers, and Doers. I've decided to write an essay explaining how Thinkers, Dreamers, and Doers impact society. I also explained how they affect each other in positive and negative ways. My essay is what will be covering my English aspect. As for my Social Studies aspect I decided to research three people in history who have each displayed traits of Thinkers, Dreamers, and Doers. As I progressed through this I found that it is hard to separate the three. To make this process simpler I decided to choose someone who displays aspects of all three. I decided to choose Adolf Hitler. I feel he is a person that displays aspects of Thinkers, Dreamers, and Doers. I decided to analyze the fact that Hitler had to have had a good side and a bad side just as all human beings do and must choose which side to cater to. Obviously Hitler decided to enhance his bad side but at one point Hitler had to have had some sense of good. I wanted to portray how a person can have two very different sides. I created a digital painting in which I portray a person  that resembles a beautiful soul but in the reflection of a pool of water below the person you see a reflection of a skull which I wanted to display as a graphic image instead of a digital painting in order to show the separation.

Project 3 - Deforestation

In the third project I decided to chose the theme Ideologies and Conflicts. I decided to go with the topic of deforestation. For English I decided to practice poetry with writing a poem. I wrote my poem on deforestation and the effects it has on the environment. For Art I decided to paint a picture of what deforestation looks like. I decided to display both sides of this particular issue. One side shows clearly how nature is slowly decaying in order to make room for buildings and cities. I showed this by creating a skyline on the other side of the painting. In the middle is the collision of the two opposites. I decided to drop the lake down into  a waterfall. This represents how nature is dying out. For Social Studies I created a research paper about Deforestation and its effects on the whole world. I analyzed different regions of the world and made some conclusions about causes and solutions.
