30,000 Days

30,000

The inspiration from this project came from a page of a book.   The page mentioned that we have 30,000  mornings to live, and how will we make each one extraordinary? As juniors and seniors in high school at ages 16 and 18 we have lived about 6,000 already.  We see things and people around us just waiting for the holidays, the weekends or the next great event.  We think that with only 30,000 days to live, there is not enough time to simply wait for the weekend or for something great to happen, but we have to live each day, each moment we have to the fullest.  To challenge ourselves to see the beauty in everyday of our lives.

We first started this in our own way, going out for fancy dinners on Tuesday nights, spending time talking about the beauty in our days, and celebrating each of our accomplishments, anything that seemed little to grand things. We then realized that this message must be spread to other people.  We thought the best way to do this was through imagery, through taking pictures of everyday moments and bringing beauty into them.

Poetry

We wrote a series of 5 poems, connecting to photos we took. Each of these represented 5 categories. We wanted these poems to be able to connect to other people, but give space for them to be interpreted to their own lives. Below are each of the poems.  The title is the category each of the poems fall under.
