Social Studies
For my social studies portion I wrote about the history of the Joker and how he was created in a comic form.
Art
For my art portion I made two photo edits of the villain Scarecrow, in the photos I represented his motivations from the start of his character to who he became in the end.
uIn the beginning Dr. Jonathan Crane, a psychologist at the Arkham Asylum, was fascinated with the concept of fear and how humans reacted to it. His fascination with fear soon became an obsession when he started doing cruel experiments on patients in the asylum with phobias, torturing them with their fears. His goal was to cure them of fear. This motivation is similar to the one that doctors share, The idea that mental illnesses like anxiety can be "cured" through medication. The question is, are the harsh acts that he committed justified because of his original motive.
After a while, Dr.Crane realized the power that fear held over the human mind and he craved that power insatiably. He wanted to control fear and prove that everyone could succumb to it. After this revelation he became the Scarecrow, and his goal was to spread fear among everyone. He created a toxin that he poisons his victims with, the toxin brings the victims worst fears to life. I can relate this motive to how news casters become fear mongers. They show and tell the masses horrific things to keep them in fear so that they are easier to control and in turn, giving them power over the people.
English
For my english portion I wrote about an essential question that I had, "Why do people like villains?".
