What even is EDM?
Well I'm glad you so kindly asked. EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music, and is a music genre that has gained a lot of popularity in the past couple of years.
When did it start?
If this is your first time hearing about EDM, you may be wondering where this mystical genre originated from, or how long it has been around. Surprisingly, it has been around since the early 1970's. Many consider the first EDM type song to be by Gershon Kingsley, and his hit 'Popcorn' that came out in 1969.
Project?
This project focuses on the Hammers & Anvils theme. Why I chose this topic is because although you may not be involved within the internet culture, (where most stereotypes lay) there are many stereotypes directed to those who enjoy this specific genre. I decided to do my project on this because I personally have not faced any issues regarding my taste in music but others have. Most of the stereotypes revolve around the use of drugs, and outright being unintelligent or unskilled creators (for producers and DJs).
