KATE'S PROJECTS

Salvacion

SALVACION

Salvacion means salvation in spanish this word was used as my project title, my project which is based off immigration and refugees.

THEME AND TOPIC FOR PROJECT 1

I chose Hammers and Anvils (oppression) for the theme of my project because this allows me to involve the topic of immigration which I have a great deal of interest in because I can relate to it. My family is from Ecuador but I was born in New Jersey, luckily my parents came with a visa but I had some family members who weren't so fortunate. I would hear stories of their childhoods and how they came to America. They describe life here as a struggle but not a regret for them because even though they couldn't speak the language or had any papers to get a good job, they prefer it here then there. Their lives over there had violence, poverty, and no chances of prosperity. Yet they are discriminated for not being born here which led to unfair treatment and opression. This was the reason why I  decided to do this topic.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Now what I did for my Social Studies project was use the historical backgrounds of some of the paintings and research each event such as Martime Accident or when Europeans started their slave trading then synthesis it into my slides.( Also provide a citation page)

ART

The way I contributed the aspect of art into my project was by curating a virtual art gallery including images and sculptures that relate to the emotions and thoughts of both immigrants and refugees. I"m using refugees as part of my immigration topic because it is in some ways related to it because of the fact that they had to leave their homelands because their lands are control by greed and corruption.

ENGLISH

I have written a poem from an illegal immigrants perspective and made it sound as though we are the fortunate ones and the so called " Americans" are the true unlucky ones.
