Just Do It: Media Influence in the 21st Century

Our project.

Our project consist of looking at branches of media and how they influence society today. Each person in our group Bishop, Karim, Sam, Kristina, and Zach each took on a branch and looked at its influences.
The branches we looked at are Music, Video Games, Social Media, Movies, and Advertisements.

Our Goals

Our goal is to reach out to middle schoolers and educate them on the influences of media and how it can be a positive influence if used correctly or a negative influence if used incorrectly.

Art

For our Art portion of the project each member of the group chose a famous monument from around the world such as the Eiffel Tower, Easter Island Heads, Mount Rushmore, and the Pyramids of Giza. Using these monument we created paintings where our topic somehow influenced the surroundings of the monuments or the monument itself.

Community Outreach

For our community outreach we reached out to the principals of Central York Middle School to set up a presentation in front of a class about our project. Unfortunately this never came to happen due to a lack of a response from the principals of the middle school.

Our presentation

For our community outreach presentation each member of the group created a powerpoint on their topic and how it influences. Then during the presentation the participants were split into small groups and spent around 8 minutes at each station and then at the end we talked about our project as a whole and saved time for questions.
