EnglishFree verse Title: My Thoughts By: Daniel Escobar I’m lost in my own head People say they understand the situation But in reality they only know a little bit They assume the worse Even though they don’t know Growing up I asked my mom why were so different She said you’re unique you are you But ma why am i this color Why am i so different How come i get in more trouble Than all the other kids They get stars All i get is detention I’m only 4 Why do i feel this way Why I just want others to feel the same way Growing in a family where all i see is color Leaving every morning to a place where all i see is white Why do i only see is white My mom told me stories of how she got here Hiding out in the cold Hiding in trunks Waiting for the car to stop Missing the fresh air When she finally arrived she had to hide They weren’t meant to be here But it’s what they desired To escape from the poor And to enter into a world where they have something Have something of their own A place where they don’t have to share everything they have A place where they have enough for everyone Some people had it easier Some people took a boat My friends parents came as refugees They had it bad too But they were meant to be here My family weren’t meant to be here My friends family lived in a struggle Because everything was new They came for the same reasons They came to make meaning My family my friends family All had it rough We’re a bunch of colors Going on a blank canvas Not everyone will choose To like the same art piece But that's the way of life Everyone's different But we're all people We're equal Were all the same We’re just living life like it's a game We all sleep But have different dreams |
HistoryI interviewed legal and illegal immigrants who came to America. With that information I created a mind map.
ArtFor my art portion I created a flag, that was the countries of the people I interviewed. Those countries being Bolivia and Vietnam. I also made a speed art video with the process of the art piece. With my explanation of what this project meant to me. As long as my free verse over it.
