Project Overview

My second project was on Carpentry, and the importance it shows to the United States. As my title suggests, there is much more meaning to carpentry than meets the eye. I chose to make my point by researching the past of the lumber industry and carpentry over the past hundred years. I researched specific instances, one of which showed how big carpentry was in his life. It was a story about a man who bought a torn down house, and built it from the ground up. This true story was written by this mans son, it showed an important perspective that helped prove my point. Lumber was important to everyone throughout the history of the United States. It provided jobs and homes and many other necessities for a countless number of people. To the right of this text you see three photos. These are part of my art portion, I chose this simple box as an example because it fit my project, it was simple but has more meaning behind it than it appears. I created several blueprints of this box, and for my english portion I wrote a Do-It-Yourself article. It gave step by step details to finishing the  primary machining steps for this box.
